The Capital Challenge Horse Show

The 2007 Capital Challenge Horse Show is pleased to present this year’s poster featuring the artwork of artist Michael Tang . The latest in a collectable series by this noted artist, the image is on the left, the tradition of beautiful watercolor paintings depicting a winning horse and rider from the previous year.

This year’s edition features 2006 World Champion Professional Hunter Rider, John French and Overseas, and is referenced from a photograph taken by Diana De Rosa.

Father Michael Tang is a professor, priest and an artist who paints large watercolors reflecting his interest in religious subjects, his life in California, and of course his love of horses. Tang received his bachelor’s degree in studio arts from Loyola Marymount University in 1981, as well as a Masters of Fine Art in painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1983. He earned two other master degrees in theology and divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, California.

He is a Professor of the Art and Art History at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. The award-winning artist specializes in brilliant watercolors and his sporting art has appeared on the covers of The Chronicle of the Horse, Horse Show, The New York Times Magazine, and Dressage Today, as well as many other publications. As a member of the National Watercolor Society and the American Academy of Equine Art, Mr. Tang has exhibited widely and many of his works are in numerous private and permanent collections nationwide. Most recently Mr. Tang’s work consists of large, lush, photo-realist watercolors of the Los Angeles landscape.
