Welles, Cheska, Levine and Nor Lead 2006 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Series Following August Competitions

Tampa, FL—September 7, 2006— The 2006 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series saw 10 exciting events in August—seven in the East Conference and three in the West. The Series kicked off in February and continues through November, culminating in a Year-End Championship at the National Horse Show in Wellington, FL.

Julie Welles and Felix Des Noues led the junior division standings in the East Conference, while Cara Cheska and My Fair Lady sat in first place in the amateur-owner division. In the West Conference, Amber Levine and Anna Karenina led the junior division. Josephina Nor and Only One held the lead in the amateur-owner division standings.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series East Conference – Junior Division

Thanks, in part, to a win at the Vermont Summer Celebration, part of the five-week-long Vermont Summer Festival, Julie Welles maintained her lead in the junior division of the East Conference. Welles, of West Simsbury, CT, led the standings through the summer months and had 795 points aboard Felix Des Noues at the close of competition in August. In second was Haylie Jayne of West Simsbury, CT, who had 730 points with Jubulent. During August, Jayne and Jubulent took first place in the $10,000 High Jr/AO Jumper Classic at Equifest II in Wayne, IL.

Rounding out the top three in the Series standings was Addison Phillips of New York, NY, with 495 points riding Flight.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series East Conference – Amateur-Owner Division

Leading the amateur-owner division in the East with 695 points was Cara Cheska of Waukesha, WI, and My Fair Lady. Whitney Weeks of Southport, CT, was in second place with 560 points aboard Subliem.

Katherine Frame of Wauwatosa, WI, was third with 410 points on McGrath and was also in fourth on another mount, Double Delight.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series West Conference – Junior Division

Amber Levine of Temecula, CA, also maintained her summer lead in the junior division of the West Conference with 690 points riding Anna Karenina. There was a tie for second place in the Series standings following the August events. Levine on another horse, Ketel One, and Hannah Selleck of Thousand Oaks, CA, aboard Bauer, had 305 points each.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series West Conference – Amateur-Owner Division

Josephina Nor of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, led the pack in the amateur-owner standings in the West Conference. With 550 points, Nor and her mount, Only One, led second place rider, Katherine Bardis of Pebble Beach, CA, who had 325 points aboard Conquest of Paradiso. Bardis’s win at the Showpark All Seasons Tournament moved her up from sixth place.

Tracy Kenly of Phoenix, AZ, clinched the win on Kirk at the Oaks Blenheim Summer Classic I, helping her round out the top three places in the Series standings with 240 points.

The Show Jumping Hall of Fame and Museum at Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL was established in 1987 and formally opened in 1989. It was organized to promote the sport of show jumping and to immortalize the legends of the men, women and horses who have made great contributions to the sport. The Show Jumping Hall of Fame also conducts the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series, held under Grand Prix rules and specifications.

The Series is designed to give amateur-owner and junior riders an opportunity to compete at higher levels and serves as a proving ground for many riders who aspire to someday represent the United States in international competition.

Any horse show offering a class that meets all the criteria set forth in the 2006 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Series specifications and has prize money of at least $1,000 is eligible to be part of the Series.
