Colorado Season Concludes with Maui Winner - Molly Rinedollar wins Langer Equestrian Group’s “Winter Vacation in Hawaii”

The trip to Maui came down to the last horse show of the season at the Colorado Horse Park – the High Prairie Fall Classic – before the winner of the Langer Equestrian Group’s Colorado Trainer Incentive Program was decided. But in the end, it was Molly Rinedollar who ended up with the top prize – a $1,500 check and an eight-day/seven-night stay at the Marriott Ocean Resort in Maui on Kaanapali Beach. Tracye Ferguson was second, earning a $1,250 award. Becky Andrews came away with $1,000 as the third place trainer while Randy Henry earned $750 for finishing fourth. Michael Dennehy rounded out the top five and pocketed a prize of $500.

The Incentive Program spanned the entire show season at the Colorado Horse Park and included eight horse shows. At every show, the horse show’s computer program calculated each trainer’s highest scoring hunter, jumper and equitation rider. Points were calculated only from classes that counted toward a show championship. First earned 10 points, second earned six, third earned four, fourth earned two, fifth earned one and sixth earned one-half point.

In the end, it was Rinedollar’s nearly 700 points that provided her with the win.

Two shows rounded out the eight show hunter/jumper series at the Colorado Horse Park, and both shows featured special classes and championships in addition to the awarding of the Colorado Trainer Incentives. Courtney Aspinwall aboard Wild Card won the Marshall & Sterling Midwest Jumper Finals, and the pair also won the Marshall & Sterling Jumper Classic. Page Tredennick not only won the Marshall & Sterling Midwest Hunter Finals on her Blue Note, but she also won the Marshall & Sterling Hunter Classic.

Paul Rorhbach and RJR Farms’ Jack of Hearts topped the $3,500 Mini-Prix both weeks.

In the HBO Childrens Medal Final, Sophie Chavanon earned top honors aboard her Reverie. In the HBO Junior Medal Final, Kerrie Nelson was named champion, and in the HBO Adult Final Brianna Hammerman led the victory gallop. “The course was really fun,” said Hammerman, who trains with Tracye Ferguson at Meridian Riding Club in Golden. “There were a lot of singles set on the half-stride out of the corner and several bending lines. It was pretty technical.”

The Finals action continued into week two of the show series where Lindsey Sceats won a very competitive Maclay Regional Final. Nelson, a student of Corky Shaha, also continued her winning ways by topping both the Zone 8 Junior Medal Final and the Colorado National Junior Medal Final.

Olivia Chowdry won the Colorado National Childrens Medal Final after narrowly beating out barnmate Katie Hurrell for the championship. And in the Colorado National Pony Medal Final, Nell Maynard was named champion.

But the Juniors weren’t the only ones with Finals competition. Nicola Thompson, who rides with Laurie Grayson of Just a Little Farm in Golden (CO), won the Zone 8 Adult Medal Final. Brittany Brevard won the Colorado National Amateur Final aboard Luther, and in the Colorado National Adult Final, Leesa Carver rode her Reveille to the championship.

Other big winners during the second week of horse shows included Angenita Grande who won the Marshall & Sterling Jumper Classic aboard King Morgan, Marlena Carlson who topped the Marshall & Sterling Hunter Classic on her A Thousand Words, and Alexandra Vanderrest who won the Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Classic on Aero Plane 2.

A-rated horse shows return to the Colorado Horse Park in May 2007. Check the Langer Equestrian Group website at www.langerequestrian.com for specific show information and breaking news.
