Syracuse, NY, November 6, 2006: The $30,000 Budweiser 6-Pack Rider Bonus series finished this weekend in Syracuse, New York with the Budweiser World Cup Qualifier of Syracuse. Going into the event, Laura Chapot had a large lead, and though she was not competing in Syracuse, only two riders had a mathematical chance to steal the top spot. The only threats to Chapot were McLain Ward and Anne Kursinski. Kursinski could overtake Chapot with a 4th place or better finish in the World Cup Qualifier, but Ward had to win the $75,000 class to do it. In the end, neither happened (Kursinski finished 6th and Ward finished 12th) and Chapot’s $30,000 bonus was secured.
The Budweiser 6-Pack Rider Bonus is a collaboration of Budweiser and the organizers of the Devon, Upperville, Beacon Hill, Lake Placid, Pennsylvania National and Syracuse Invitational horse shows. The rider bonus is a $30,000 cash award given to the rider that earns the most combined prize money in the Grands Prix at the six participating events. A rider’s total prize monies are calculated as the sum of the rider’s single highest placing mount’s earnings at each of the six member events in which the rider competes.
