Baryard-Johnson and Butterfly Flip take the German Masters at Stuttgart

Stuttgart, Germany - It was two Swedes that topped the leader board last evening in Stuttgart, as Malin Baryard-Johnson and Rolf-Goran Bengtsson were both double clear to finish 1-2 in the German Masters.

Baryard-Johnson, a 31 year old from Norrköping, Sweden became a crowd pleaser as she rode her 15 year old Butterfly Flip to victory. No stranger to Stuttgart, Malin had earned victory here beforer winning the 2003 Stuttagart Grand Prix and also the 1999 Ladies German Masters. For the win, she took home a Mercedes Benz B 180 CDI, an automobile valued at 33,000 Euros.

Baryard-Johansson’s compatriot Rolf-Göran Bengtsson aboard Mac Kinley was also double clear and just 3/10th’s of a second slower than Malin earning 16,000 Euros.

Germany’s Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum aboard Checkmate earned third place worth 12,000 Euros. Meredith was also double clear and less than a half-second off of the pace.

“I saw, that Rolf was very fast, commented Malin, but normally Butterfly Flip is somewhat quicker than Mac Kinley. However it was a heavy track and I knew that I must ride a perfect round.” Baryard- Johnson continued “I really went as fast as I could go without dropping a rail, and now I am completely overjoyed.”

Director Gotthilf Riexinger revealed: “We joked a little at midday today. She has never left a show in Stuttgart without having won at least one class. She quipped, ‘perhaps it’ll happen again tonight.’ And she was right.”
