Olympia, the London International Horse Show, (12 - 18 December) has received nominated entries from nine of the top international jumpers in the world, including the top three in the world (Marcus Ehning No.1) and the top 11 in Britain, for one of the most exciting dressage and jumping events in the world and the only British horse show to include FEI World CupTM Jumping and Dressage Qualifiers.
The show, whose prize money for both Dressage and Jumping elements takes a massive leap over the £250,000 mark (£284,420 or €420,899) for the first time this year, has also received entries, or indications of participation, from the top three dressage riders in the world on the current rankings including the two newly crowned FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) individual gold medallists (Anky Van Grunsven* and Isabel Werth) and the entire Dutch Silver Medal winning team from WEG.
Thursday evening’s performance will include a guest appearance by Eventing’s new World Champion, Zara Phillips, who will be parading with her fellow Silver Medal winning British team mates in the Parade of Medallists which will feature some 41 British equestrian athletes, who between them have won an amazing 20 gold medals, 13 silver and 17 Bronze, including eight individual titles during the course of 2006.
Show Director Simon Brooks-Ward said “Olympia always attracts world class entries but even by our already high standards we will have a glittering line-up of international stars at this year’s show.”
There will be twelve performances at the show with eleven including the displays of the Metropolitan Police Activity Ride and this year’s spectacular the 16 strong quadrille of the Hanoverian State Stud. Olympia favourites the Shetland Pony Grand National and the Finale will also feature as part of the performance.
