HARRODSBURG, KY.— Robbi Meisel, President of Flashpoint Media Services, is pleased to announce that Cynthia Grisolia, a journalist and former senior editor at Entertainment Weekly magazine in New York, has joined the newly launched Equestrian PR and Marketing firm as a co-director.
Ms Grisolia, a New York City native, was part of the original launch team behind the successful Time, Inc weekly. A long-time rider and horse-sport enthusiast, she left EW in April 2006 to pursue a career in the equestrian sports. “I had spent a summer working at a Thoroughbred retirement facility in Kentucky,” said Ms. Grisolia, who recently relocated to Versailles, KY for the position. “It was such a rewarding experience. It helped me realize that it was time to try and mix business with pleasure.”
Flashpoint Media Services is a division of the nationally ranked equestrian event photography company Flashpoint Photography, also owned and run by Meisel and her husband, Greg. “Devotion to our customers and personalized service has always been Flashpoint’s No. 1 priority,” said Mesiel. “So I carefully weighed the desires and needs of potential PR clients-as well as the need to raise the bar on media services available to the equestrian—before moving forward with the new company,” she added. “One of the deciding factors in my going forward was securing a viable partner, and now we have.”
FMS’ goal is to further enhance the image of the equestrian athlete and to bring all equestrian sports deeper into the mainstream. “Look at the success of films like “Seabiscuit” and “Dreamer,” said Grisolia. “Or look at a nation united by the plight of Barbaro. It proves that general public has an interest in horses and horse sports. The show ring is an exciting place. It takes strength, stamina, and a boatload of guts to pilot 1,200 lbs over a five-foot obstacle at top speed. Is it any less thrilling than NASCAR?”
The fledgling business already boasts an impressive and fast-growing client roster, including top Grand Prix riders Sergio Campos and Daniel Geitner, top Hunter riders Elizabeth and Hardin Towell, the South Carolina-based Hunters Lane Farm, show producers The Classic Company, and retailer Fox Den Interiors & Gifts, among others.
Flashpoint Media Services is a comprehensive public relations firm specializing in PR and marketing for athletes and other members of the equestrian community. Based in Harrodsburg, KY, FMS officially launched in November. For additional information contact Robbi Meisel at (859) 734-3713, [email protected]
