ATCO CELEBRATES ROYAL MANITOBA WINTER FAIR CENTENNIAL

$75,000 Centennial Grand Prix Show Jumping Event Features Largest Purse Ever

CALGARY, Alberta – To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the highly acclaimed Royal Manitoba Winter Fair, long-time partner ATCO Group will co-present the $75,000 ATCO-KUBOTA CUP show jumping competition.

The ATCO-KUBOTA CUP Centennial Grand Prix, scheduled Saturday, March 31, is expected to attract top international and Canadian riders. The purse is more than double the largest amount ever offered for a show jumping event at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair in Brandon.

“ATCO has a long standing partnership with the historic Royal Manitoba Winter Fair and we wanted to do something very special to celebrate the 100th anniversary of this great Canadian institution,” said Nancy Southern, President and Chief Executive Officer, ATCO Group. “We hope this $75,000 Centennial Grand Prix will create an outstanding competition people will remember for a very long time.”

The ATCO-Kubota Cup Centennial Grand Prix will launch the Kubota Cup Canadian Show Jumping Series, a national eight-city show jumping competition formed two years ago to promote and develop equestrian sport across Canada.

ATCO Group this year is also contributing special human interest segments for the television show ‘Along For The Ride ‘ - the program that follows the Canadian Show Jumping Series. Produced by Spruce Meadows Television, the ‘Striving for Excellence’ segments will feature eight high performance Canadian equestrian athletes. The Series will be broadcast on CHCH (Ontario), CHEK & CHBC (British Columbia), CHCA (Alberta) and nationally on TVtropolis (PRIME).

The Royal Manitoba Winter Fair is one of the largest agriculture shows in Canada, combining agriculture, equestrian events, livestock, and world-caliber entertainment into a family-oriented experience. About 130,000 people annually attend the Fair at the Keystone Centre.

ATCO Group, an Alberta based worldwide organization of companies with assets of approximately $7.7 billion and more than 7,000 employees, is comprised of three main business divisions: Power Generation; Utilities (natural gas and electricity transmission and distribution) and Global Enterprises, with companies active in industrial manufacturing, technology, logistics and energy services.
