Tampa, FL – April 6, 2025 – The 2007 Winter Equestrian Festival is rapidly coming to a close, and in the last 18-35 Adult Amateur hunter division of the season, Jennifer Reid and Playtime earned championship honors.
Reid, who rides with Bainbridge Farm, piloted Playtime to first and second places over fences yesterday and a first place today, in addition to a fourth place in the under saddle class. The 9-year-old Warmblood gelding is owned by Stacee Scott and is being leased by Bainbridge Farm.
“We leased him all season and he was amazing this week. He’s really just a consistent horse,” Reid explained. “He’s nice and slow, he has a really good mind, he jumps great and he’s got a lot of ring appeal. The judges seem to gravitate toward him, and we’re really, really pleased with the way he’s been going. He’s exceeded our expectations and we’re so happy to have him.”
She continued, “He’s a dream to ride – an absolute dream. He’s like riding a La-Z-Boy sofa. His stride is really big and he just glides. He’s so fancy, I feel so privileged to ride him. He has a good sense of humor when I make mistakes, and I think that’s really important in an Adult Amateur horse, in that they can take a joke, and he can. He covers up my mistakes and delivers every time.”
Reid noted that they will try to continue the lease on Playtime provided the owner is willing. However, she said that Bainbridge Farm plans on showing in Saratoga and Lake Placid this summer with their string of hunters. In addition, today’s championship points sealed Reid and Playtime’s position in the season’s standings as circuit reserve champion.
Tim Boulton and St. Christopher, owned by Christy Russo, were reserve champions in the 18-35 Adult Amateur division.
In the Over 35 Amateur-Owner division, Ellen Toon captured both championship and reserve championship ribbons with Attaché and In Disguise and locked in the circuit championship with Attaché.
Although Attaché was originally an investment horse purchased by Toon’s husband, Jimmy, he was never sold and Toon picked up the ride. As for In Disguise, he is a veteran partner of Toon’s and has graced the winner’s circle many times at WEF.
“I got lucky enough to start showing (Attaché) a few years ago, and he was circuit champion the first year I showed him down here,” Toon explained. “Both horses went great this week. Attaché was very good. Yesterday, they were both fabulous and first and second in each class, so I couldn’t have asked for more from them.”
In the 36-50 Adult Amateur Hunter division, Glen Senk repeated his performances from last week and took both champion and reserve champion honors with Dynamic and True, respectively, while dominating the division standings. With Dynamic, he placed first under saddle and first and third over fences today, and earned two third places yesterday. Riding True, Senk placed first and second over fences today, and first and fourth over fences yesterday.
The final hunter division championships of the 2007 Winter Equestrian Festival will be pinned tomorrow in the Junior, Amateur Owner and Adult Amateur hunter divisions.
