Fans of horse sports not deterred by dismal weather! Equine Review plays to a packed house.

Sussex, NB – “We are very happy,” said Shonda Wilson. Wilson is President of the Maritime Quarter Horse Association, sponsors of the annual Equine Review trade show and exposition. Despite absolutely abysmal weather, the turn out for the fourth Equine Review to be held at the Princess Louise Park Show Centre was phenomenal.

Spectators came from throughout the Maritime Provinces and Maine to see the displays, watch the demonstrations, and shop ’til they dropped at the many booths selling everything equine from tractors and trailers to saddles and sports bras.

“The annual Equine Review is our season opener,” said Ceci Flanagan-Snow, Manager of the Princess Louise Park Show Centre. “This is the biggest one so far. All four exhibit buildings were full and the riding and driving demonstrations in the arena ran non-stop all day before a packed house.

“The volunteer organizers from MQHA are to be commended,” she continued. “They attracted exhibitors from all three Maritime Provinces, Ontario and Maine. The more there is to see, the more spectators there will be – and this year’s event was excellent. It’s also good exposure for our Show Centre.”

Cheryl Trevers of Elora, Ontario, was one of the exhibitors. She said, “It’s my first time at this show and it’s excellent. You have a wonderful facility here and it’s so versatile. We had no idea such a place existed in the Maritimes.”

Several thousand people visited the Show Centre throughout the two-day event, many for the first time. The Gala Stallion Parade and Breed Presentation on Saturday evening, preceded by a demonstration by the Fundy Dog Agility Club, was watched by a standing room only crowd. Huddled in winter jackets or wrapped in horse blankets, spectators still said that they’d be back to watch more events this summer.
