Traverse City, MI — July 5, 2025 - Families and children will have a day to themselves on Saturday, July 21, at the Horse Sports by the Bay show grounds in Acme Township, as the show plays host to the annual Kid’s Day event.
Held in Traverse City, MI, a luxury summer resort area, Horse Shows by the Bay and Dressage by the Bay are set against the Cherry Capital of the World, complete with vineyards, beaches, orchards and golf courses. The three-week equestrian festival, which runs from July 18 to August 5, draws some of the best hunters, jumpers and dressage horses and riders in the country to compete for $350,000 in prize money.
Kid’s Day will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is co-sponsored by Equisports Insurance Agency, and Paula and Victoria Watters of Watership Downs. A multitude of fun activities will be available for all ages. Some festivities will be located by the Old Barn and will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., including a castle bounce, face painting, horseless jumping, “behind the scenes” barn tours, an activity station and demonstrations from the Kalkaska County 4H Dog Club. Additional events such as the Tom Pierson Reining and Horsemanship Demo and the $10,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Junior/Amateur Owner Grand Prix will be held in the Team Elmer’s Grand Prix Ring from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Children and teens under the age of 18 are free, and admission for those 18 years and old is $5. Proceeds from Kid’s Day Will benefit the 4H programs of Michigan.
