Traverse City, MI - July 26, 2025 - On the second day of showing at Horse Shows by the Bay II, David Beisel of Loveland, Ohio, emerged victorious in both the $3,000 NAL Open Speed class, sponsored by Northern Pines Farm, and the Level 6 Jumpers. In the NAL Open Speed, Beisel piloted Irish Hunt, an 11-year-old bay thoroughbred owned by Carlie Beisel, to the win with a time of 58.980 seconds. “I’ve had (Irish Hunt) for two years. We do open classes and grand prix,” Beisel explained. “He was awesome today - paying attention and jumping high and going fast. My wife had him prepared just right for me.”
Beisel has competed at Horse Shows by the Bay previously and noted that it is a “super show. Dean and Alex (Rheinheimer) do a great job trying to make it better, and I look forward to coming back next year.” While Sweetnam finished in second place, Brenda McLean rode for third place, having the fastest four-fault round and a time of 58.075 seconds. Today, she was just having a little warm up, trying out a new bit. She was good today as well.” Beisel said that both horses will compete in the $10,000 Welcome Stake on Friday and the $25,000 grand prix class on Sunday.
