Traverse City, MI - July 28, 2025 - On this fourth day of competition at Horse Shows by the Bay II, in Traverse City, MI, spectators were treated to dinner and a classic. Tammy Provost rode Beth Bidgood’s North Shore to victory in the $10,000 Jr/A-O/Pro Hunter Classic, sponsored by Wrenwood Farm. During the classic, spectators and exhibitors were treated to a complementary Mardi Gras-themed dinner in the ringside hospitality tent.
North Shore shows in a rubber snaffle, no martingale and is “simple and straightforward to ride.” Several horse and rider combinations had difficulty with designer Kevin Giblin’s course that included a forward six-stride and a bending seven but Provost managed the course easily. “I didn’t really worry about anything with [North Shore] because he’s really straight forward. He walked right into Capital Challenge as a Pregreen horse [and jumped around]. So, honestly, I didn’t think he was going to do anything wrong tonight,” explained Provost. They finished with a combined score of 175, three points higher than Rachel Herkowitz and Brooke in second place.
Also in the classic, Jennifer Waxman rode Four Seasons Farm’s Relentless to third place. Earlier in the day, the pair earned the Small Younger Junior Hunter tricolor and the Grand Junior Hunter Championship. “[Relentless] was a First Year horse last year so he’s young and a little green. We had to get used to each other at first but lately he’s really stepped up to the plate,” said Waxman. Waxman also earned sixth in the classic riding her Zoom.
In the Small Older Junior Hunters, Kels Bonham repeated her performance from last week earning the division tricolor on Tri Mare LLC’s Urlala. Grace Socha and Barri Platt’s Manolo received the reserve championship.
In the Small Younger Junior Hunters behind Waxman and Relentless, Kaitlin Campbell earned the reserve championship on Unique.
Caroline Gibson earned both the championship and reserve in the Large Younger Junior Hunter division on Shadyside Farm’s Primetime and her Hotshot, respectively.
In the Large Older Junior Hunters, Amanda Cohen rode her 14-year-old Odette to the division tricolor. Socha piloted Victoria Calantoni’s Amigo F to the reserve.
Horse Shows by the Bay II concludes tomorrow with the Amateur-Owner Hunter championships and the $25,000 Grand Traverse Bay Grand Prix.
