CN WorldWide Derby for Ludo Philippaerts

Jeroen Dubbeldam wins Medium Tour

Valkenswaard, August 26th – Thousands of spectators saw European and World team Champion Jeroen Dubbeldam win the Medium Tour Final. No less than 15 combinations qualified for the jump-off. It was a tough battle, but in the end it was Jeroen Dubbeldam who took first prize with Eurocommerce Montreal (Holstein, by Athlet Z x Cor de la Bryere). Runners-up were Britain’s Robert Smith and Ronaldo (KWPN, by Ahorn x Stuyvesant xx). In third place came Ireland’s Billy Twomey with the 10-year-old mare Tinka’s Serenade.

In total 8,500 spectators visited the Horse Festival and no less than 20,000 horse fans watched top sport during the International Concours Valkenswaard.

Belgium’s top rider Ludo Philippaerts was the winner of the CN WorldWide Derby with the BWP stallion Tauber van het Kapelhof, a son the legendary Darco, with whom Ludo was very successful in the past.

The Derby of Valkenswaard is a heavy competition for horse and rider because of its length and the use of natural fences such as the big bank and the Devil’s Dyke, which require a different approach. But that was no problem for Tauber. He was over two seconds faster than runners-up Markus Fuchs from Switzerland who rode Sylver II (SWB by Almeto Z). Third place went to Gerco Schröder and his Holstein gelding Eurocommerce Acapulco (Calido x Chamiso).

Ludo Philippaerts and Markus Fuchs are both ambassadors for the not-for-profit organisation Just World International. Please check the organisation’s website for more information: www.justworldinternational.org
After the Derby prizegiving Mr Rob Olde Hamsink of the Rotaryclub Valkenswaard, presented Wendy Kiers of the Ronald McDonald House in Veldenhoven with a cheque of € 10,000.

A stay in the Ronald McDonald House in Veldhoven saves the parents a difficult and sometimes long journey back home every day or prevents them from having to sleep on a stretcher in the hospital. The Ronald McDonald House offers a place to stay for parents and families of a severely or long term ill child that has been admitted to the Máxima Medical Centre.

The houses depend fully on campaigns, sponsors and donations. VIP-guests of the International Concours Valkenswaard could buy lottery tickets with which a beautiful sculpture by sculptor Evert den Hartog was to be won. These works of art are offered by Galerie Lambèr Valkenswaard and the Rotaryclub Valkenswaard.
During the Horse Festival and the International Concours Valkenswaard visitors could win a Miele Steam Cooker DG 1050. Today, just before the Medium Tour jump-off, the winner Mrs Ria Straus from Kelpen was presented with her prize by Patrick Kwakkel of Miele Nederland
