”I am particularly proud to have won this Grand Prix here in Lyon. I came last year for the first time and I went only second behind Marcus Ehning with Sandro Boy. I wanted revenge, I wanted this Grand Prix.” Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum was not less happy than her hostess, Sylvie Robert, show director.
“I am very glad that Meredith won this GL Events Grand Prix. Since she came for the first time, last year, she unconditionally supports Lyon showjumping, especially in this movement for getting the World cup here. She is a great sportswoman. I could not imagine a better support. And she is not the only one: this week-end, all the riders came to me to tell me how they do appreciate the quality of our organization.”
For Meredith, things were not that simple: “I had to ride fully risky knowing that very fast riders such as Thomas Frühmann and Marcus Ehning, were coming after me.” Finally, none of both could be quicker. A famous result, three formal winners of a World Cup final: 1st Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (2005), 2nd Thomas Frühmann (1992) and 3rd Marcus Ehning (2003 ans 2006). Is that not a sign?
