MARCH 11, 2008— After a successful show run at HITS Ocala, Daniel Geitner, of DFG Stables, returned home to Aiken, S.C. for the PSJ March Madness 1 show, where he completed the week with double Championship honors: One in the Green Working Hunters (Combined) aboard Onslo, owned by CDS Stables, and one in the Pre-Green Hunter 3-foot-3 division riding Nancy Forker’s Imagine That. Geitner was also Reserve Champion in the Pre-Green Hunter 3-Foot with Cornelia Buckley’s Untold Story.
And speaking of Reserve Champions, DFG client Catherine Stumberg earned that title aboard her horse Farasi in the Children’s Hunter 15-17 division.
Down in Wellington, at the Winter Equestrian Festival, Alise Oken of Charlotte, N.C. captured 3rd place in the $1000 Junior Jumper Classic with her horse Pedro. Oken also earned a 1st and a 3rd in the Large Junior Hunters 16-17 with her newest mount Take Away and a 2nd place with her horse Quintin, who also earned a 1st and a 2nd in the Conformation Hunters with assistant trainer Stephen Heinecke in the irons. Lucille Oken captured a 1st place aboard Hi Lite in the Small Pony Conformation Hunters. The Okens ride with Robert Hunt at the Monroe, N.C.-based Hunters Lane Farm.
In Ocala, Miranda and Sophia Gali, of the Potomac, MD-based GaliCo Equine, once again found themselves in the ribbons in the highly competitive pony hunter divisions.
Sophia tied for Championship honors in the Schooling Pony Hunters-Small with her pony Legally Blonde. The team also earned a 2nd place ribbon in the Small Pony Hunters. Sister Miranda, meanwhile, earned two 4ths in the Large Green Pony Hunters with her mount Chris Craft. Miranda and Chris were also 2nd in the Green Pony Equitation class.
Also in Ocala, Sergio Campos of Florida’s Longwood Equestrian Center was tops in the Jumpers this week. Campos earned a blue ribbon in the Level 6 Jumpers with the Split Creek Farm/Ron Krise entry Cooper and piloted Baloume Z, also owned by Split Creek, to a 1st and a 5th in the YJC 7&8 Year-Old division. Campos and his gelding Cognac do Jacare, meanwhile, captured a 3rd and a 5th in the Level 7 Jumpers.
