Sussex, NB – April 7, 2025 – “Starting on May 6th, activity at the PLP Show Centre will be virtually non-stop this show season,” said Ralph Cunningham, President of the Princess Louise Park Show Centre Inc. Board of Directors. “The calendar is filled with horse shows, educational clinics, cattle shows and other agricultural activities.”
Season Opener – Equine Review
The show season begins with the third annual Equine Review, Saturday and Sunday, May 6th and 7th. For the first time in its three-year history, this exciting event, sponsored by the Maritime Quarter Horse Association, will run for two days. The goal is to showcase the equine industry in the Maritimes to the general public through an enormous trade show throughout the facility and live demonstrations in the main Arena.
Open Saturday from 10:a.m. to 5:p.m., the exhibits and demonstrations featuring many of the breeds of horses available throughout the Maritimes will enthral horse lovers, young and not-so-young. Visitors will have a chance to see everything from the tiniest “mini’s” to the largest draft horses. Throughout the day there’ll be demonstrations of the many ways in which horses are used in the region – for work, pleasure and in competition.
Karen Thomas, one of the MQHA organizers of the event, said that returning visitors “will be pleased to see several new exhibits and demonstrations this year, in addition to many that are back for the third time.”
Don’t miss the “What Not To Wear” make-over event presented by members of the MQHA.
In the trade show visitors will find everything related to horses from feed and tack to artwork, jewellery, giftware and equipment like tractors, essential for a horse farm.
The spectacular “Gala Parade of Stallions”, sponsored by Meadowgate Arrabians, will start at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night in the main Arena. Set to music with commentary and lots of pizzazz, the featured breeds include the American Bashkir Curly Horse, Arabian, Canadian, Friesan, Lippett Morgan, Miniature Horses, Morgan, Paso Fino, Quarter Horse, Rocky Mountain Horse with more to come.
Admission and parking are free so bring the whole family!
The trade show and exhibits continue on Sunday and admission and parking are free.
Plus, from 8:30 until noon there will be a series of educational clinics. The Maritime Quarter Association is presenting two sessions: General Horsemanship and Showmanship. The Maritime Morgan Horse Club is presenting a Driving Clinic. A nominal fee of $2.00 will be charged to watch these clinics.
