BURBANK, CA - The seven show Gold Coast Series has proven to be very popular among Los Angeles area based hunter/jumper competitors. Langer Equestrian Group, Inc. founder and President Larry Langer recognized the need for quality USEF “B” rated shows. “Competitors need a place to bring their beginning and intermediate level riders, as well as a place to show green horses.” Without sacrificing quality, LEG created the Gold Coast Series.
The three day shows allows trainers and riders to select the format that best meets their needs. Most hunter sections are held on one day, thus allowing people to show on just one day if they so choose. However, with a wide range of classes and divisions, riders can easily show all three days if they so desire. As a result, LEG’s Gold Coast shows are very popular. In addition, riders accrue points toward more than 30 series championships which are presented at the end of the seven show series.
Gold Coast 3 (May 19-21) attracted over 350 horses to three days of competition at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. Amateur rider Carrie Wolf had a great weekend with her horse White Magic. First, her trainer Mark Purcell rode White Magic to the Regular Working Hunter championship on the first day of the show. On Saturday Wolf took over the riding duties and earned the tri-color in the Adult Amateur Hunter section.
Lauren Vogel rode Challenge Me to champion honors in the 1.20 meter jumpers. Trainer Julie Golden coached the amateur rider to success in the jumper ring. “He has been laid up for a year and this is our first show back,” said an elated Vogel. Challenge Me jumped eagerly in all three classes. The pair also moved up to the Low Junior/Amateur Owner Jumpers where they also earned prizes. “These are great shows to help you prepare for bigger shows and to just have fun,” added Vogel.
Fun was what it was all about for Corey Kaplan. This was the amateur rider’s very first show and she just hoped to have fun and ride well. Aboard Hour Glass, Kaplan won three of her Amateur Green Rider classes and was named champion. “I couldn’t believe it,” said Kaplan of her wins. “I had so much fun. The whole experience was great.” Kaplan rides at Philip Klipa’s Marlay Farms and she can’t wait for the next Gold Coast show. “The Gold Coast shows are really popular with my clients,” added Klipa. “They enable my whole barn to show.”
The Gold Coast Series continue a Langer Equestrian Group tradition of providing quality hunter/jumper shows to competitors from beginning riders to the very best.
