HARRODSBURG, KY—APRIL 2, 2007— This week, Flashpoint Media clients had Georgia on their mind as many opted to compete at the Atlanta Spring Classic in Conyers’ International Horse Park. Daniel Geitner’s Aiken, S.C.- based DFG STABLES had an outstanding first week of classic competition, which began on Wednesday March 28. As reported earlier in the week, Geitner himself earned the Tri Colors in the Regular Working Hunter Division riding Remedy, an 8-year-old Holsteiner mare owned by Margaret Edge.
On Wednesday, he took both 4th and 8th place in the Lucky Sevens Welcome Stake, piloting Sherry Cooke’s Miraj and Kyle Register’s Trading Places, respectively. (Geitner and Trading Places also captured 1st place in the Level 7 Open Jumpers). And in this Sunday’s Cherry Blossom Grand Prix, Geitner closed out the week with a firm 2nd place out of 25 riders aboard the 8 year-old Rhinelander mare Sympa, owned by Mrs. Charles Bostwick. The mare is know for being a bit tough, but “she’s got the jump and is very careful, you just have to harness it all,” said Geitner who has trained the gifted horse for the last four years.
Two of DFG’s most promising clients were also in the ribbons this week: Tara Bostwick took 1st place in the NHJL Large Junior Hunter Classic on her horse Libertas, while Jennifer Gamboa was named Champion in the Pre-Adult Hunters with her horse How Now. Jennifer was also 2nd in the Pre-Adult Hunter Classic. Meanwhile, over in the Jumper ring, Jennifer’s horse Gitane Du Rol earned Adult Jumper Reserve Champion with husband Dr. Juan Gamboa in the irons.
The riders of the Monroe, N.C.-based HUNTERS LANE earned several division championships this week. Steven Heinecke, newly hired professional rider, earned the Tri Colors in the 2nd Year Green Hunters with Alisette and also in the Green Conformation Hunters aboard Ashton. Both horses are owned as well as shown by Hunters Lane junior rider Alise Oken.
And speaking of Alise and Alisette, the horse and rider entry were crowned Champion in the Small Junior Hunter 15 & Under Division then Alise went on to earn Championship honors in the Large Junior Hunter Division riding Kiara Barnett’s Southern Style.
Younger sister Lucy, meanwhile, was Reserve Champion in the Small Pony Hunter Division aboard her mount Hi Lite. They also captured a well-placed 7th in the NHJL Small Pony Classic.
Lastly, Elizabeth Boyd Towell, of the Camden, S.C-based FINALLY FARM, captured Reserve Champion in the Regular Working Hunters aboard the Sarah Ward-owned 11-year old Dutch Warmblood Onassis. Liza also captured 1st Place in the Pre-Green Hunter Classic aboard the Helen Milner-owned Enticer, while Ward, a Finally Farm client, was named Champion in the Large Junior Hunter 16 & 17 Division aboard her horse Blink.
Congratulations to all!
