Amy Momrow Wins $25,000 Leone Family Jumper Classic at 30th Annual I Love New York Horse Show

Lake Placid, NY—July 5, 2007—Amy Momrow of Albany, NY rode Summer Storm to victory in the $25,000 Leone Family Jumper Classic at the 30th annual I Love New York Horse Show. Momrow was one of only five from the starting field of 37 entries to reach a tiebreaking jump-off by riding without penalty over the 16-jump first-round course designed by Olaf Petersen, Jr. of Germany at the North Elba Showgrounds. Three then rode fault-free over the nine-jump tiebreaker course with Momrow gaining the win by finishing with the fastest time of 48.80 seconds on her 10-year-old Warmblood.

Placing second with a jump-off time of 49.41 seconds on Vancouver D’Auvrey was Danielle Torano of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Third place went to Christine McCrea of Suffield, CT who had the only other clean ride in the jump-off. She finished in 50.03 seconds on Promised Land.

In the day’s other feature class, Hillary Dobbs of Sussex, NJ won the Wild Horse Winery North American League (NAL) Speed Stake, topping a field of 45 horses with a time of 63.272 seconds on Marengo. Second went to Laura Chapot of Neshanic Station, NJ who finished in 67.407 seconds on Cilthe Z.

The 2007 I Love New York Horse Show, July 3-8, is once again hosting world-class equestrian action highlighted by the $75,000 Hermès Grandprix CSI 3* on Saturday, July 7. Preceding the Grandprix is the horse show’s 15th annual Doggie Costume Contest sponsored by Lonesome Landing Garden Center of Saranac Lake, the Brown Dog Café and Wine Bar of Lake Placid and A Placid Life of Lake Placid. All people who bring a leashed dog in costume to the horse show on Saturday will be admitted free.
