WILHELM GENN RETURNS TO THE WINNER’S CIRCLE AT HORSE SHOWS BY THE BAY, SERIES III

Wilhelm Genn with Ariado in the winnerTraverse City, Michigan: July 30, 2006: Wilhelm Genn continued his winning ways at Horse Shows by the Bay Series III by claiming the victory in the D-BRAIDER $25,000 Cherry Capital Classic. Genn and his horse Ariado bested a field of twenty to take home the win to Lebanon, Ohio, going double clear in a time of 37.186 seconds in the three horse jump off round. Local home town favorite Melissa Anne Hirt posted the only other double clear round but was over 6 seconds slower on Jessica Speiser’s mount Mighty Mess; Woodland Hill’s Bella Diamond, ridden by Sean Steffee was quicker than Hirt but dropped one rail to finish third. Sunday’s Grand Prix course was designed by Aiken, South Carolina’s Michel Vaillencourt.

Earlier Sunday morning Amanda Dinsmore riding her horse Brisco won the $10,000 Children’s/Adult Jumper Prix. Dinsmore also placed fifth on her second mount Limerick. Out of 25 starters, five cleared the initial first course and advanced to the jump off. John Lydick, representing EverAfter Diamonds presented Dinsmore with a custom designed pair of 14 karat earrings for her winning ride.

Main Hunter Ring blue ribbons went to Hemmingway and Sydney Victor for winning the Children’s Hunter Classic sponsored by Northern Pines Farm & the Leelanau School; Casey Hodges and Comic Z in the R. Bruce Duchoissois sponsored Adult Hunter Classic; and Touch of Silver with Rachel DeGabrielle in the Pony Hunter Classic sponsored by Janet Read. Winners received coupons from Ariat International, Inc for boots or breeches in addition to the championship coolers.

The Fancy Footwork Memorial Trophy awarded to the horse accumulating the most overall points in either the Children’s Hunter & Children’s Jumper Divisions from went to Avalon owned by Katie Krinsky. Local Traverse City resident Courtney Franciso donated the memorial trophy in honor of her seasoned campaigner and dearest friend, Fancy Footwork. “He was truly the most well rounded horse and I thought that a trophy to honor him here in Traverse City would be the best. He won classes in the jumper ring and was also safe enough to tote a short stirrup rider around as well”, remarked Francisco.

Kelly Burke Hayner, Hamburg, Michigan, claimed the overall High Score FEI Champion honor with a 68.50% at Zada Enterprises, LLC’s Dressage by the Bay. In addition Hayner on Roxanne Sadowski’s Legislateur received the award for overall High Score Open Rider by posting a 74.815% from FEI judge Lois Yukins.

Zada Dressage Ring riders and spectators were treated to a musical demonstration presented by Hampton Green Farm’s PRE Andalusian stallion Cosaco and Pati Pierucci on Saturday. Six time dressage Olympian Robert Dover was on site to introduce Pati and the sport of dressage. Dover flew in to the Traverse City show grounds for the “Fiesta for Hope” Equestrian Aid Foundation Charity Benefit Party which took place in the Hospitality Tent between rings later that afternoon. The benefit generated over $10,000 in donations to EAF. Patrons of the auction and party were treated to an authentic Spanish Paella and Sangria provided and sponsored by Hampton Green Farm’s Chef Frederic. The Equestrian Aid Foundation’s mission is to aid and assist equestrians in need due to catastrophic disasters and illnesses.

Horse Shows by the Bay are produced by Dean and Alexandra Rheinheimer of Traverse City, Michigan. The three week equestrian festival is recognized “AA” Hunters and Four Star Jumpers by United States Equestrian Federation, the national governing body for equestrian sport.
