Chris Pratt Chosen as CAVALOR ‘Athlete of the Month’ for May

Ottawa, Ontario — Jump Canada has named Chris Pratt of Belfountain, ON, as the CAVALOR ‘Athlete of the Month’ for the month of May.

On May 13, Pratt rode to victory in the $50,000 Mary’s Tack & Feed Grand Prix in Del Mar, California.

He topped the jump-off over a difficult track set by Olympic course designer, Leopoldo Palacios riding Royal Beach Faroa, an 11-year-old Mecklenburg stallion owned by C & S Partnership LLC.“Faroa is a new horse for me. I’ve been showing him for two months and he is such a quality horse, and very sharp in the ring,” explained Pratt, who moved to southwest California in January to work with renowned American rider Richard Spooner.

Pratt’s win aboard Royal Beach Faroa was one of many successes Pratt has experienced since making the move to California. In late March, he also topped the $50,000 Antares Saddlery World Cup Grand Prix at the CSI-W Del Mar riding Live Fire, a 12-year-old Zweibrücken gelding also owned by C & S Partnership LLC.

As the CAVALOR ‘Athlete of the Month’ for May, Pratt receives a gift certificate from title sponsor CAVALOR.

“I am thrilled to be chosen as the Athlete of the Month for May,” said Pratt. “It means an awful lot to me this time, since I have relocated to the U.S. It’s really special to be recognized by Jump Canada for my efforts on the west coast.”

Pratt is hoping his winning streak continues in Canada at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, AB, where he will be competing until mid-July.

“It’s definitely going to be exciting to compete in Canada again. It will be nice, after being in the U.S. for several months, to come back and see old friends and competitors,” explained Pratt, who will be kicking off his Canadian stay at the ‘National’ Tournament held June 6-10.
