Budweiser American Invitational Qualifying List

The $200,000 Budweiser American Invitational is the grand finale to the 2006 Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) and will be contested at 7pm on Saturday, April 1, 2006, under the lights at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium. While some riders are guaranteed a spot in the nation’s richest and most exciting show jumping event, based on previous accomplishments, most have to earn their way into a starting spot using their prize money won during the nine week run of the 2006 Winter Equestrian Festival. McGuinness and Rich Fellers take the Indio $75,000 Grand Prix

Rich Fellers and McGuiness win the Indio GP, a Kathy Hobstetter PhotoToday’s Grand Prix, Footings Unlimited $75,000, would almost have been anti-climatic if the competition had been held over any other course. Olaf Peterson, Seefeld, Germany set an amazing technical, big, airy course over fences that sort of reminded me of Alice in Wonderland. Lots of color, complex optional lines, wide oxers, BIG verticals and a “Quad Rail” fence option at #8 that created lots of problems and a few chills and spills.
