Help! Much needed advice!

I love my horse, and he loves me, but there is one problem. He is a 2′9 horse 3′ on a good day and I have surpassed his abilites. My trainer has found me a very sound, very talented 3′6-3′9 horse for a reasonable price. I love my horse more than anything on this planet, but part of me wants to be able to move on and persue my dreams of competeing in higher level classes. Although I don’t know if I could/should sell my horse. Im sure fellow riders have been in this situation and I would appriciate any thoughts on my dilemma. Thanks!
