American Hillary Dobbs, aboard Corlett finished second
Martín Dopazo (riding El Capricho Adela Lina) finished first at the Speed Derby, Telecom/Personal prize. The rider, who repeated the same outstanding performance of his 2006 first place finish, ended his round in a time of 1m 43s 94/100. American Hillary Dobbs, aboard Corlett was second in a time of 1m 47s 06/100, followed by teammate Charlie Jayne who, riding Thomas Edison, finished third in 1m 49s 75/100 over the 18 obstacle and 20 effort course. Team USA wins Nations Cup at Buenos Aires for second year in a row

A young United States show jumping team won the Nations Cup (La Caja Prize) in convincing fashion on the second day of the 9th Haras El Capricho international horse show. Heavy rains at times threatened the competition, but ceased halfway into the event. Read more

Equine Herpesvirus type1 Status – Florida

State Officials in Florida are investigating a possible outbreak of Equine Herpesvirus – type 1 (EHV-1) in the Wellington, Florida area. Affected animals have been associated with the importation of horses through the USDA New York animal import station. Laboratory confirmation is still pending. Read more

Michael Whitaker and Insul Tech Portofino 63 earn Leading International Rider Award
Ten riders were clear in the first round of Saturday Night’s “The Ricoh” Big Ben challenge, an Article 238.2.2., 12 obstacle , 15 effort course designed by Canada’s 1976 Olympic Silver Medalist Michel Vaillancourt.
All 6400 seats were filled as 10 from this international field returned for the jump off. Read more

The 2006 Maclay National Championship for the ASPCA Horsemanship Classes was held on November 4th and 5th at the Syracuse Invitational Horse Show. After Saturday’s events, Californian Nick Haness was at the top of the leaderboard with Julie Welles and Maggie McAlary close on Nick’s Heels. Read more

Captain Canada Ian Millar Takes John Deere Canada Cup Championship 2nd Year in a Row

PALGRAVE, Ontario - It rained on “Captain Canada´s” parade today, but Ian Millar still emerged as the John Deere Canada Cup champion at the Tournament of Champions horse show.
Though a single fallen rail during today´s $100,000 World Cup Qualifier and the third phase of the John Deere Canada Cup Championship ended Millar´s quest to win all three phases of the Championship, he still accumulated enough points over three days to win the Cup title. Read more
