About Hunter Jumper News


Introduction:

Hunter Jumper News reflects the coming of age of the Hunter Jumper Community on the Internet. HJN provides a premier news media and information service as well as an opportunity for Hunter Jumper community members to share photos, experiences and information about all levels of competition in the Hunter Jumper arena.

During the past 5 years, the expansion and growth of the Show Jumping Community has been staggering. American Show Jumping is now a global affair with a multitude of information available from worldwide sources.

Towerheads always led the way in getting that information to the community. At HJN, we hope to integrate what was successful at Towerheads with a whole new functional area for involving the community. They are the news and so should enjoy a more major part in its making.

Listening to our Community - and making sure that we deliver maximum value to you - is what is important to us.

HJN website is based upon a “Content Management System”. “CMS”, simply stated, provides a dynamic way of organizing a single piece of information so that it can be presented through multiple views. That way a user can get the information that he desires.

As an example, suppose you missed a day or a week and wanted to know just what happened on that day? No problem. You can review by week, day, month, author, show, etc. With a “CMS” environment, we hope to provide our readers with a tailored offering.

But HJN is much more than a CMS System. It is a Virtual Horse Show throughout the country on a daily basis.

We encourage participation and user commentary is now integrated to correspond with each piece of information reported. Want to comment on a situation, do it right after and where you read the article. You just have to be part of the community to post your commentary.

Our Photo Gallery is greatly enhanced over older photo display systems and is now organized into albums and sub-albums. Each album has a description of what the album contains and also information about the individual picture within each album.

Photographers and Media can upload pictures into the Gallery directly from any PC. But the “Big Feature” in the Gallery Section is that HJN Members can also create their own Gallery’s for sharing with the community.

HJN’s CMS system allows for authors to enter information onto the site without the need for interfacing with a “technical guru” to make it happen.

Viewing the Site:

The site can be viewed with the most current version of Firefox, Mozilla, Opera, Safari, Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer. Older Versions of the browsers work, but presentation of information will suffer in that the site employs modern technologies to enhance the presentation. If you are using an earlier version of any browser, please upgrade. We will not entertain questions of earlier incompatibilities.

The site can be viewed equally on Unix, Windows and Macintosh platforms.
