December 5, 2025
LEXINGTON, KY (December 5, 2025) Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness (G1) winner Funny Cide has just become the newest resident of the Hall of Champions at the Kentucky Horse Park.
The 32-degree weather did not stop approximately 200 of his fans and friends from attending his outdoor Welcome Reception. Among his guest speakers was owner Jack Knowlton of Sackatoga Stable. His breeders, William Casner and Kenny Troutt’s WinStar Farm were represented by farm president, Doug Cauthen.
John Nicholson, Executive Director of the Kentucky Horse Park observed, “Horses have a way of bringing people together, and great horses attract great people. Funny Cide is a classic example of that, and we have gathered here today to welcome him to his new home, thanks to the generosity of Sackatoga Stable and WinStar Farm.”
Other speakers were Anne McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds, LLC, in New York, which foaled him, and John Asher of Churchill Downs.
Funny Cide (Distorted Humor – Belle’s Good Cide, by Slewacide) earned $3,529,412 and an Eclipse Award as Champion Three-Year-Old Colt, and became the highest-earning New York-bred in history for trainer Barclay Tagg, under Jose Santos. His nine stakes wins also included the prestigious Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1).
