Buffalo, NY – The 60th Annual Buffalo International Horse Show (BIHS) began competition yesterday, but the first championships of 2006 were awarded today. The show offered competition for the professional hunter divisions at the historic Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center (BTRC). The $6,000 1.45 Jumper Stake, scored under Table II, Sec. 2 (b), Time First-Jump-Off was the main event at today’s competition at Cleveland’s American Gold Cup. Twenty-one starters came to the in gate but the first competitior, Todd Minikus aboard Loxahatchee established a mark that was untouchable for the rest of the field. Yesterday, the Wachovia Securities American Gold Cup returned to its Ohio home after a 36-year absence. A refurbished Cleveland Metroparks polo field marks the reason for its return.
