THEY WERE GOOD DAYS!

August 3, 2025

Valkenswaard, 03/08/2025 – The International Concours Valkenswaard is over. The most exciting clincher was the CN WorldWide Derby, the biggest one was the final of the Medium Tour and the funniest was the grooms jumping.

People were still talking about Daniel Deusser´s victory of the sixth leg of the Global Champions Tour. The combination Daniel Deusser (GER) and Air Jordan Z was fast and careful, assuring the first prize yesterday evening.

The final of the Young Horses was registered to Enrique Gonzalez. The Mexican finished in 35.59 seconds, leaving number 2 of the GCT’s sixth leg, Nick Skelton (GBR), behind him. The Swedish rider Angelie von Essen became third in 37.90 seconds.

The CN WorldWide Derby set the tone for the day. It promised to be a short but powerful class with 18 starters. And it resulted in one. The 1.80m high wall was just a little too high for some to either get on or to get off, and for others it appeared that the water jump was too difficult. The visitors were aware of the difficulty of the Derby and sighed and moaned with every jump. After an exciting jump-off, the class on time was won by Roger Yves Bost (FRA) that proved to be able to ride a derby with Kire Royal Star. The natural jumps were no problem for Henk van de Pol either, but it took him just a little more time as Bost, but he finished in 109.31 seconds, good enough for a second place.

Julien Epaillard (FRA) became third with Lord du Janlie, with Malin Baryard-Johnsson (SWE) and Beat Mändli (SUI) behind him.

The big final of the Medium Tour had an Italian touch. After the first round, where it appeared as if the audience was still at the Derby with their minds, there were 9 nominees for the jump-off. Eventually, only 8 riders would start because Marco Kutscher (GER) decided not to start Montender 2. Uriël Taken went first with Rendez-Vous after mentioning: “I am finally in the jump-off and I have to go against the top riders of the world!” Although he came far, his clear round was not fast enough and he became eighth. Henk van de Pol (NED) rode clear in 37.55 seconds and became third with Dan 7-T. He had to step aside for Ludger Beerbaum (GER) who finished in 37.38 seconds. The big winner was Italian Piergiorgio Bucci who later said: “I am very happy with my victory. I already said to my groom that I am going for it and that I would be either first or last!” He went clear in 36.58 seconds with Da Zara Kanebo (Konkorde x Ramiro) and won €7.500.

Before the next class, they also announced the winner of the Mappa Mondo drawing match. The youngest visitors of the International Concours Valkenswaard were delighted with a GCT cap, a GCT shirt, a barbecue at Zomerhof or a photo shoot at Studio Lemmens. After the announcement, they also received posters and pictures were made.

The best clincher of the International Concours Valkenswaard was the grooms jumping. This time, the roles were reversed and for once, the riders were biting their nails at the entrance when their ‘rider’ rode through the arena. At the end of the day, they played the French anthem for Fabian lajaut, who normally is the groom for Hubert Bourdy
