August 25, 2025

The 2008 Spruce Meadows “Masters” Tournament begins on Wednesday, September 3rd. The venue is now gearing up for its final FEI event of the season to host spectacular sport, entertainment, and exhibitions.

Spruce Meadows will welcome home the 2008 Olympic Silver Medal winning Team Canada who will now look at winning gold at the BMO Nations’ Cup.

With the Beijing Olympics now complete, Canada’s own Olympic Champion Eric Lamaze returns to Spruce Meadows with his gold medal mount Hickstead. Lamaze and Hickstead will look to defend their $1 million CN International title. The CN International acts as the fourth and final leg of the CN Precision Series. If able to defend his title, Lamaze will earn a $450,000 bonus and be the first athlete to win three legs of the Series in one season.

This year the artistic feature at Spruce Meadows is a stunning collaborative mural celebrating the horse, combining the original work of 187 of the finest equine artists from around the world. The mural combines 238-16 inch x 16 inch paintings of various equine themed paintings together to form one unified mural masterpiece, designed by renowned Canadian artist Lewis Lavoie. The final masterpiece will be unveiled to the public on Wednesday September 3rd with a special media preview on Media Day. A selection of the artists whose work is featured in Le Cadeau du Cheval will be available for interviews.
