Charity luncheons hold special appeal at 2008 Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic

August 29, 2025

Gloucester, Massachusetts, August 29, 2025 - The Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic (September 3-7, 2008) has a long history of benefiting local charities in the New England region. This year, three charitable organizations will host ringside luncheons to raise funds on the Silver Oak Equestrian Center show grounds in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire. Aptly scheduled for Family Day on Saturday, September 6th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the luncheons offer special ticket holders the opportunity to enjoy the full show experience with comfortable seating and gourmet dining. “It’s a great way to enjoy the show, knowing your contribution is a substantial boost to these worthy programs,” said The Jumper Classic President, Melissa Lovasco.

The three charity luncheons will benefit well-established therapeutic and inner city children’s riding programs in the area.

The University of New Hampshire’s Therapeutic Riding Program will hold a buffet luncheon for the first time at The Jumper Classic show grounds. UNHTR Program Director and Instructor Cindy Burke was delighted to learn that this Olympic-caliber show jumping event was relocating just 20 minutes from the UNH campus in Durham, New Hampshire. She was eager to take part and host the fundraiser. “We’re planning on earmarking the funds raised at the luncheon to cover the costs for the riders of the Special Olympics riding team,” she said. The UNHTR program is a North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) Premier Accredited Operating Center. The program has a dual mission: to provide therapeutic treatment to individuals with physical, emotional, and cognitive disabilities; and, to create an environment which integrates members of the disabled and able-bodied communities. The buffet luncheon includes a wine bar, a 50/50 raffle, and other fun prizes. Website: www.trp.unh.edu.

City to Saddle, a Boston-area charitable organization that enables underprivileged, inner city children to enjoy the benefits of horseback riding, will return to host its second benefit luncheon at the Jumper Classic. The riding program encourages children to exercise patience and compassion, while building confidence and trust in horses and other people. With the support of The Dana Hall School, Dover Saddlery, local riders and businesses, and several area equestrian centers, City to Saddle has enrolled over 100 boys and girls in the program since 2003. One of the organization’s largest supporters is show jumping competitor Alexandra Cherubini, Owner of EquiFit, Inc. “The caliber of an event like the Jumper Classic gives us and our children amazing opportunities. Our dream is to one day to have one of our kids competing out there at the Jumper Classic,” said Barbara Zenker, Co-Founder of City to Saddle. Website: www.citytosaddle.org.

Returning for its sixth year at the show, Lovelane Special Needs Horseback Riding Program will hold a champagne luncheon and a Ladies’ Best Hat contest. The Luncheon has grown from 50 attendees their first year to over 200. Lovelane provides high-quality therapeutic horseback riding to children with special needs. “The Jumper Classic is a fabulous opportunity for us to expand our reach amongst the horse community,” said Debbie Sabin Kanzer, Founder and Program Director of Lovelane. “This is our chance to thank our many donors, volunteers, and staff for their tireless efforts in supporting our organization. We have also been successful, thanks to this spectacular venue that the Jumper Classic provides, to meet many prospective donors and enhance our community reach,” Kanzer added. 2008 marks the fourth year that Lovelane has held a hat contest at the Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic. “Every year we get a little more outrageous with our hats and we want people to have fun,” said Ellie Howe, Lovelane Luncheon Committee Chair. “We consider this event our ‘fun and friend-raiser,’ in addition to a fundraiser, thanks to the support from the Jumper Classic,” Howe added. Tickets to any of the three luncheons include parking and a full afternoon of entertainment on Arbella Insurance Group Charitable Foundation Family Day at The Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic with ringside seating for two children’s show jumping classes - the $1,000 Gloucester Graphics Children’s Adult Level Three and the $2,500 Deeridge Farm Junior Amateur Low Classic - as well as the $3,500 Master’s Classic Presented by The World, the $3,000 Junior Amateur High Classic, and the exciting new class, the $15,000 Mohegan Sun Derby.
Because of the Jumper Classic’s commitment to these programs, the Arbella Insurance Group Charitable Foundation chose the show’s Family Day for their special sponsorship. “Family Day is a relaxing but exciting day for everyone at the show, when people come to see the riders and horses and enjoy all the extra events the show has to offer, from boutique shopping to gourmet food to organized activities, as well as the gala luncheons, each with very special causes to support,” said Melissa Lovasco, President of The Jumper Classic.
