Opening Ceremony and the start of the jumping competitions begins on Tuesday at Aachen

On Tuesday the competitions of the show jumpers gets underway: Here the aim is to set the course for the show week. At 9.30 a.m. the world’s top riders will be entering the arena on their horses for the first competition, the NETAACHEN Prize. Followed by the STAWAG Prize at 1.30 p.m., which is one of the qualifiers for the ROLEX Grand Prix on Sunday.

At the official Opening Ceremony of the CHIO Aachen 2009 at 5 p.m., this year’s partner country, Flanders, will particularly be in the limelight: With shrimpers, stilt-walkers, the famous dolls - the Dendermonde giants - and 200 horses. Moreover, there is also a world premiere in store: The best four-in-hand drivers in the world will be presenting a joint quadrille for the first time ever.

The Dutch neighbouring city, Kerkrade, is also making a guest appearance: A few days before the international music festival starts, the World Music Contest, show bands and orchestras will be providing musical highlights at the Soers.
