Lake Placid, NY —June 28, 2007—Todd Minikus of Loxahatchee , FL rode Romy to victory over a 24-horse field in the $7,500 Whiteface Mountain 1.45m Jump-off at the 38th annual Lake Placid Horse Show.
Minikus, one of the four riders chosen to represent the U.S. in show jumping in the Pan American Games at Rio de Janeiro , Brazil later this summer, was one of nine entries to qualify for a tiebreaking jump-off by riding without penalty over the 15-jump first-round course at the North Elba Showgrounds. Only a small number of American cities can boast of a mounted police force. Fittingly, the Horse Capital of the World, Lexington, Ky., is one of those cities.
When the Downtown Economic Commission began work to revitalize the Lexington area, it was decided that a more present police force was necessary to restore order to the district.
