Upcoming Dressage Highlights at 2007 Winter Equestrian Festival

WELLINGTON, FL – The 35th annual Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, features three dressage shows comprising the Stadium Jumping, Inc. Dressage Series presented at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club. Riders will compete in the full spectrum of dressage, from Training Level through Grand Prix, including divisions for Adult Amateurs, Juniors, Young Riders, and Open competitors.

Qualifying competitions are offered for upcoming Great American Insurance Group/United States Dressage Federation (GAIG/USDF) Regional Championships; United States Equestrian Federation High Performance (USEF HP) national championships; and North American Junior/Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC).

Preview Contenders for Rolex FEI World Cup™ Final and Pan American Games
Topnotch dressage riders from across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and South America will compete in the Stadium Jumping, Inc. Dressage Series at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), providing a preview of some of the contenders aiming for this year’s most anticipated events – the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Final for Dressage, to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, in April; and the Pan American Games, to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in July.

U.S. dressage riders at WEF aiming for the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Final will compete in the USEF HP Grand Prix qualifiers with the goal of achieving scores that will place them among the top 12 in the nation invited to the U.S. League Final in Burbank, California (March 29-April 1), that ultimately determines the two U.S. representatives for the Las Vegas event.

Riders at WEF with their sights set on the Pan American Games will compete in the USEF HP Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I qualifiers with the goal of notching scores that will place them among the top 12 in the nation invited to the Selection Trials in Gladstone, New Jersey, that determines the four-member squad for Rio de Janeiro.

The USEF HP classes at WEF are also qualifiers for riders aiming to earn scores to be among the top 12 in the nation who are invited to the USEF national championships – the 2007 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF National Grand Prix Championship and the 2007 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF National USEF Intermediaire I Championship/Pan American Games Selection Trials. The championships will be held in June at the USET Foundation Dressage Festival of Champions presented by Paul Miller Inc. and PhelpsSports.com in Gladstone, New Jersey.

$50,000 Cunningham Insurance Dressage Challenge presented by GAIG
An exciting new highlight of the Stadium Jumping, Inc. Dressage Series will make its debut at this year’s WEF – the Cunningham Insurance Dressage Challenge presented by Great American Insurance Group, which guarantees $50,000 to the horse/rider combination that wins all three designated Grand Prixs at the 2007 Winter Equestrian Festival. The rider who meets the challenge will be awarded 50% of the purse and the owner of the horse will receive 50%. A rider/owner who earns the triple victory will be awarded the entire $50,000. The dates for the Grand Prixs in the Cunningham Insurance Dressage Challenge are: February 9, February 23, and March 22.
