Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum started the RIDERS TOUR season exactly how she left off in 2007: The Tour winner from last year showed her talent yet again by the second stage of the RIDERS TOUR in Wiesbaden. Michaels-Beerbaum piloted her 13 yr. old gelding Checkmate to the win over the course designed by Frank Rothenberger in the Grand Prix of Wiesbaden, the RIDERS TOUR class – no other pair could catch her second round fault free ride which stopped the timers at 41,56 seconds. “Checkmate jumped fantastic. The 1.40m Open Jumpers were met with cold rain and wet conditions. Despite the storms, the Sheila C. Johnson Arena held up well, and Alison Robitaille took first and third place with her mounts Pourquoi and Garfield 211, respectively.
