Opening Ceremony on July 1st, will be dominated by Russian guests.

Russia is the partner country of the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen 2008 (June 27th - July 6th). Around 160 people and 60 horses are expected at the traditional show grounds in the Aachen Soers. Above all the official Opening Ceremony of the event in the main stadium on July 1st, will be dominated by the Russian guests. Aachen’s public will however be welcoming the partner country the day before (Monday, June 30th) at a reception in the historical Town Hall Square.

The German Olympic teams to be decided in Aachen

Once again the prize-money of the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen, is being increased. The overall prize-money now adds up to 1.67 million Euros. Last year it totalled 1.55 million Euros. The competition with the most prize-money is the ROLEX Grand Prix with 350,000 Euros.

It came down to a three way jump off between Germany’s Christian Ahlmann, Frances Roger-Yves Bost and the USA’s Beezie Madden. Roger-Yves Bost was first to go in the jump off aboard Ideal De La Loge. McLain Ward aboard Quo Vadis is victorious at Aachens Preis des Handwerks

Only fractions of seconds separated the victor in the Preis des Handwerks at the world festival of the horse sport, CHIO Aachens 2007, from the second place finisher. McLain Ward riding his eleven-year-old Holsteiner mare Quo Vadis tripped the timer at 59.45 seconds, just .12 seconds faster than the sedcond place finisher. Read more
