Millar Captures Canada Cup Championship for Third Consecutive Year

CALEDON – It was a three-peat for Ian Millar Sunday at the Tournament of Champions horse show. The legendary ‘Captain Canada’ – still at the top of his game at age 60 – captured both the John Deere Canada Cup Championship and first place in the $100,000 World Cup Qualifier. This is the third consecutive year Millar has won the show jumping championship with the 12-year-old bay gelding InStyle, owned by Sue Grange of Caledon, but the first time he’s won both that title and the World Cup class at the Caledon Equestrian Park. The Equestrian Festival (July 25 to 29, 2007) and Summer Festival (August 1 to 5, 2007) welcomed record-breaking entries and enthusiastic spectators. Owned and run by the Equestrian Management Group (E.M.G.), the North Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave, Ontario sits on 500 acres. The park is host to top hunter-jumper shows, including World Cup Qualifiers and Team Selection Trials, as well as quarter horse, paint horse, dressage and other. There are over 100 stalls, a camping area, vendor space, and a food area that boasts the most delicious stir fries at any show. Read more
Darrin Dlin Wins $100,000 World Cup Grand Prix at Caledon Summer Festival

Palgrave, Ontario — Darrin Dlin of Spruce Grove, AB, claimed victory in the $100,000 Caledon Equestrian Park World Cup Grand Prix held Sunday, August 5, at the CSI-W Caledon Summer Festival in Palgrave, ON. A total of 26 riders tackled the technical course set by Robert Ellis of Great Britain with nine passing the test and advancing to the jump-off. Riding sixth out of the jump-off order, Darrin Dlin and the Canadian-bred Catwalk were clear in a time 49.23 seconds to take over the lead from American Schuyler Riley and Nottingham who had also jumped double clear in a time of 51.77 seconds. Captain Canada Ian Millar Takes John Deere Canada Cup Championship 2nd Year in a Row

PALGRAVE, Ontario - It rained on “Captain Canada´s” parade today, but Ian Millar still emerged as the John Deere Canada Cup champion at the Tournament of Champions horse show.
Though a single fallen rail during today´s $100,000 World Cup Qualifier and the third phase of the John Deere Canada Cup Championship ended Millar´s quest to win all three phases of the Championship, he still accumulated enough points over three days to win the Cup title. Read more
