Heinrich Hermann Engemann wins the Grand Prix of Rhein-Neckar at European Championship

With a double clear ride in a five horse jump off, Germany’s H. Hermann Engemann bested fellow teammate Marco Kutcher by more than 6 seconds to win the Grand Prix of Rhein-Nechar. Five of the 31 combinations that came to the starting gate managed a clear ride, but only two of those were double clear. Read more

Gold is Bright, Gold is Orange

At the end of an afternoon full of excitement and drama, the team gold of the 2007 FEI European Jumping Championship goes to The Netherlands, who have one more title to add to their world gold conquered in Aachen last year. It was the second round of the Nations Cup which was run on the same course as the first round except that fences 4, 5, 6b, 7, 11, 12a, 12c and 13 had been raised by 2 to 5cm and widened up to 10cm. Ireland and France are out of the Olympics

The French and Irish will not be going to Hong Kong in 2008. France, world champions in 2002, have not missed an Olympics since 1932, but the team finished 12th at the European Championships in Mannheim and will not make the final cut. Read more

Ludger Beerbaun and Goldfever take Team Germany into the lead at the FEI European Jumping Championship

The second of the 2007 FEI European Championship at Mannheim was certainly an exciting day. The first round of the Nations Cup in which took part all riders and horses who had participated in yesterday’s speed competition. Eighteen teams – fought all they could to secure a place in the top ten as only the ten best teams will continue tomorrow in the second round of the Nations Cup. Read more

While the sun shone with all its might in the Mannheim sky, the arena, where action of the 2007 FEI European Jumping Championship began today, was no less bright. Indeed, Christa Jung, the first woman to design a European Championship course, had filled it with dazzling reds and blues to go with the gigantic yellow sunflowers decorating fence 7 set in the middle of the arena. Olympic Ambitions at Mannheim……

More riders than ever will take part at this week’s FEI European Show Jumping Championship in Mannheim, Germany where a total of 87 competitors from 27 nations will be in action. The previous record was established at Donaueschingen, Germany in 2003 when 71 riders from 24 nations lined out, but the significant improvement in the competitiveness of representatives from Eastern European countries has swollen the numbers this time around.
