Jill Henselwood had a little chat with her horse Black Ice before the $150,000 Grand Prix of the Desert, the Grand Finale of six weeks of show jumping at the HITS Indio Desert Circuit.
The Canadian rider wanted to take her mount with her to Europe in preparation for April’s World Cup. But the catch was Black Ice needed to pay his own way for a trip that would cost nearly $60,000 in airfare and oats. Read more

The party was hosted by Jami Morse Heidegger and Show Circuit Magazine and included presentations by George H. Morris, Chef d’Equipe of the U.S. Show Jumping Team, Bonnie B. The site plan for the new HITS Desert Circuit facility was unveiled Saturday night at a by-invitation-only party next to the Grand Prix field in Indio. People attending the party learned not only of the site plans, but the dreams and goals of the people building it. Seems with the change of location, HITS Indio is headed for big exciting changes in lots of other ways. Read more

Hits to Unveil New Desert Equestrian Site

Indio, CA (March 2, 2025)-HITS, Inc. of Saugerties, NY announced today that the company will unveil preliminary site plans for its new multi-million-dollar HITS Desert Equestrian Center at a special by-invitation-only party in honor of the United States Equestrian Team Foundation on Friday, March 3. The new 250-acre venue will be constructed during the next year on property near Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in Thermal, California. Read more
McGuinness and Rich Fellers take the Indio $75,000 Grand Prix

Today’s Grand Prix, Footings Unlimited $75,000, would almost have been anti-climatic if the competition had been held over any other course. Olaf Peterson, Seefeld, Germany set an amazing technical, big, airy course over fences that sort of reminded me of Alice in Wonderland. Lots of color, complex optional lines, wide oxers, BIG verticals and a “Quad Rail” fence option at #8 that created lots of problems and a few chills and spills.
